CEVA Logistics expands in Africa with acquisition

CEVA Logistics is expanding its operations in Africa after having acquired a controlling shareholding in third-party logistics provider AMI Worldwide, which has a presence in East and Southern Africa.

On July 1, employees at AMI Worldwide offices in 12 countries in East and Southern Africa will join join the CEVA global network.

AMI Worldwide assets will offer CEVA customers with a “seamless network to facilitate cargo movement within Africa”, as well as “providing a platform for further investment and expansion throughout the continent”.

CEVA Logistics is also integrating three facilities ⁠— in Mali, Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast ⁠— of French container transportation and shipping company CMA CGM Inland Services.

Additionally, CEVA is expanding in Mauritania and in Ethiopia, where a new joint venture has been formed with with MACFAA.

CEVA Logistics’ Africa expansion will result in it having a presence in 41 countries in 79 offices; 1,300 members of staff; 19 warehouses with a collective total of 135,000 sq m of storage capacity; and a fleet of 1,500 trucks.
